How To Stay Up Late & Stay Awake In The Morning
6.18.2016
Who here has a habit to stay up late? No matter lah for what kind of reason; whether it's to binge-watch your favourite series or movie, to read a book, to study, to do a last-minute revision, finishing your assignment or simply because you can't get off your phone, because I'm the same! You would think that I would cover my sleep during the weekend or study breaks but no, my staying up becomes worse during holidays. That's the only time I have to binge-watch some TV shows I've been putting aside for such a long time and the time I can read the book in my TBR piles peacefully without getting anxious by the amount of reading I should be doing for study instead. It's not a healthy sleeping habit but I can't help myself!
01: HAVE A SHORT NAP BEFOREHAND/AFTERWARDS.
This is what I always do, but it doesn't always work for me since I'm not a fast sleeper. But it might work for you! Your brain needs a rest, your body needs a break. Take a 10-20 minutes nap before you start your stay-up-late session. I would recommend you to set an alarm to wake you up. If you are that kind of people that can sleep through a numerous amount of the loudest alarms, it's better if you have someone to wake you up. Tell them to just sprinkle some water to your face or do anything until you wake up (this is what I always tell my brothers. and also what my brothers tell me to do).
If you're a very heavy sleeper, definitely don't sleep beforehand. You might end up not finishing the work you're supposed to do during the stay-up-late session. So, whatever you're doing, try to finish it fast so that you can have a short nap afterwards.

My Mama always says that eating nasi lemak will make you sleepy because of its huge amount of fats and it's actually true! Too much food will make you sleepy. For me, personally, I do feel sleepy after eating a huge amount of food. When you had just eaten some heavy meal, it will cause a response sent to the brain that tells the body to slow down and focus on digesting rather than go out and seek more food (which means you'll get sleepy.) I'm not sure if you understand this but yes, heavy breakfast would cause you to be sleepier than you are. So, don't have a heavy breakfast.
03: GET SOME CAFFEINE INTO YOUR SYSTEM!
Yes, Lorelai, we all can relate. |
Caffeine isn't good for your health. When you're addicted to coffee, you're more likely to have a bad migraine if you don't drink it for even a day. Therefore, I really do not recommend this even when I always do this. I'm a coffee addict, everyone, don't judge me! However, if you only stay up late occasionally, then it's okay to drink coffee in the morning. It's okay to drink it occasionally but it's not very healthy to drink it every day.
04: WORK IN BRIGHT PLACES
I never try this before but I believe that working out will totally wake you up, based on what I heard from people. Opposite to the theory saying that you will be more tired after working out, according to statistics and my observation, people who get less sleep but work out every day are more active than people who get enough sleep but don't work out. Ah, the magic of working out.
I'm sure not each tip given in this post work for everyone but I hope that everyone can benefit at least from one of the tips. If you're one of the stay-up-late squad, what's your go-to thing to stay awake in the morning?
exam result-
Currently listening to Yesterday by The Beatles
Hello! So here's the thing: my grade went down. I already expected it, given that it was our first time sitting on an exam with real SPM format. It was quite a challenge. My hand is still hurting due to too much writing. But still, I'm so grateful that it didn't go down too much.
For your information, our school used a new system this year called 'PHP' system (I don't remember the full name of the system). Every teacher will give us marks based on our proactivity, attendance, homework and things like that. And that PHP marks will affect our exam marks as well. The higher our PHP marks, the higher our exam marks. At first, I didn't like this system but it's for our own good so I needed to learn to like it. Now, I see that the PHP marks actually help a lot in our exam marks. Although it's just a small percentage of the exam marks, it definitely affects the grade I get.
That's all for my short rant today.
on my people-pleasing tendency
6.10.2016
I think that wanting to please people is a natural human tendency. You can see it in the way that babies keep walking their little cute walks even after falling on their butt (or sometimes faces) again and again with a big smile on their faces because everyone around them keeps cheering for them. Every oohs and aahs make them happy and even if I don't know what really is going on in a baby's mind, in my theory, it's because they want to keep hearing that oohs and aahs. Is it a bad thing, though? Of course not because they're just babies. When we see this tendency in an older person, though, most people will say that that person "tries too much". Should all of us throw the whole tendency away? If so, how? Is it even possible to not want to please even one person in our lives?
I have a huge tendency to want to please the people around me. And if I think that I didn't please a certain person (even when they say nothing), I have this habit of beating myself up and reliving the particular moment I displease people again and again. It's super tiring. I blame my critical self and mind. Even when I keep telling myself that humans, especially a teenager like me make mistakes all the time, this vicious cycle keeps going around and around.
It's impossible for a person like me to just stop wanting to please people. One thing I learned from some reading, though, is to identify whether someone is worth pleasing all the time. What I mean is, is that person matters that much to me for me to keep wanting to please them? People like my parents, family and friends who have done many good things for me; they should be the people which it's natural for me to want to please, right? Is it worth it to keep wanting to please people who say hateful things to you without any thinkable reasons? If the only reason some people is throwing you hate is as simple as the way you walk, would you ever change the way you walk just to please them? It's different when they only show their concern for good reasons, though, but is it worth it to change something so trivial just to please people who don't really matter to you that much?
If I do so, I'll just waste my energy and time because the harsh and most obvious truth is that, it's impossible to please and impress everyone. Thinking about 1000 different ways I can displease someone is tiring and a huge burden to my mental health. It's impossible for me to stop wanting to please people but I'll decide which people I want to please and not.
"I swear, we are infinite."

"Even if you don't know what I was talking about or know someone who's gone through it you made me feel not alone 'cause I know there are people who say all these things don't happen and there are people who forget what it's like to be 16 when they turn 17 and this will be stories someday and our pictures will become old photographs. We will all become somebody's mom and dad.
This one moment, when you know you're not a sad story. You're alive. And you stand up and see the light on the buildings and everything that makes you wonder and you're listening to that song and drive with the people you love most in this world.

Marhaban Ya Ramadan! | Ramadan Goals
6.05.2016
Assalamualaikum and hello earthlings😃 I hope it's not too late to say happy Ramadan to all my fellow Muslims all around the internet. Time flies so fast, I can't believe we're already celebrating Ramadan.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “When Ramadan enters, the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of Hellfire are closed and the devils are chained.” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)
This year, I listed some goals that I want to achieve during Ramadan this year.
Never miss a Tarawih when I'm not menstruating
Ramadan only comes once a year, and only during this time Muslims experience the bliss and harmony of Tarawih every night. I love Tarawih because Muslims will go to the mosque together with their family and friends and strengthening our bonds.
Qiamullail at least 3 times a week
Abu Hurayrah reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said Whoever stands (in the voluntary night prayer of) Ramadan out of faith and in hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven. (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)
This had been on my Ramadan Goals for years but I find it hard to actually perform this. I really hope I can achieve this goal this year.
Khatam Al-Quran
"The month of Ramadan (is the month) in which the Qur’an has been sent down as guidance for mankind containing clear signs which lead (to the straight road) and distinguishing (the truth from falsehood).." (Q 2:185)
Do you know that the rewards we get during Ramadan is multiplied by 1000? Just imagine if we keep doing good deeds, how many rewards will we get, masha Allah.
Technology diet
Well, not exactly like the picture showed but something like it. While on the internet, I can assure you that 70% of the time we're wasting our time with unbeneficial things such as reading gossips on gossip websites, watching another youtube video that isn't even educational and more. Hence, during Ramadan, a technology diet is a must, in order to obtain more time to do ibadah and gain more rewards.
Lose weights
I will be lying if I say I don't want to have a great looking body and ideal weight. Although a body like Victoria Secrets models is totally unachievable, I at least want to get an ideal body mass index to be healthier. The key to losing weights during Ramadan is not eating a lot during iftaar and not sleeping too much.
I hope all of us can achieve our Ramadan goals this year!
